Madeleine García Soberal, MD

Dr. Madeleine García Soberal is an Integrative Oncologist and Hematologist with private practice at the Centro de Oncología Integral de Puerto Rico in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.

Since she was very little she knew she wanted to be a doctor, as she always described herself as a scientist, a researcher and discoverer.  She always found the human brain fascinating and was captivated by how her great grandmother, the neighborhood healer, used natural remedies and herbs to cure any health ailment.  At 14 years old, she is diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and it was then when she felt she needed to be in control of her own chronic condition.  This makes her realize the possibility that other conditions might be similar.

Her medical career started at the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico, graduating Cum Laude from the School of Natural Sciences/Biology.  She completed her studies in Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico where the European teaching methods used included natural medicine, constant patient contact, focusing on empathy and complication prevention.  In Mexico, she meets many indigenous people using natural remedies to cure many illnesses, among them, using a variety of fungi to cure prostate cancer.  This reinvigorates her interest and knowledge that plants can indeed cure and decided she would focus on finding ways to help cancer patients within the natural roots of medicine.

Dr. García Soberal returned to Puerto Rico to complete her Internal Medicine residency and internship at the Hospital Universitario Dr. Ramón Ruiz Arnau in Bayamón, where she was Chief Resident during her last year. Completed her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology in various hospitals in the San Juan area, among them the VA Hospital and Hospital de San Juan Dr. Rafael López Nussa, where she served as Oncology/Hematology Chief Fellow.  Here she combined conventional cancer treatments with natural remedies, and in times when colon cancer patients in advanced stages would have a life expectancy of only 7 months, Dr. García Soberal’s patients would last 2+ years in remission when they combined traditional chemotherapy treatments with Vitamins C, B and E.

Dr. García Soberal completed her formal medical education with a Clinical Homeopathy certification from the Center for Education and Development of Homeopathy, the leading Clinical Homeopathy educational institution in the United States, Canada and Europe for the last 40 years.

On 2012 she founded, together with the also integrative oncologist Dr. Yelitza Ruiz Candelaria, the Centro Oncológico Integral de Puerto Rico (The Integrative Oncology Center of Puerto Rico) in Bayamón to provide a new treatment alternative to cancer patients in Puerto Rico.  The Center they is committed to treat cancer patients in a holistic manner – not only focusing on the diagnosed cancer – but treating the patient as a whole, including the body, mind and spirit.  Centro Oncológico Integral de Puerto Rico combines proven traditional cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radio therapy, complemented with treatments to help bring more effectiveness, energy and well-being to the patient – such as acupuncture, yoga, nutrition, therapeutic massages, counseling, art therapy, among others.
